Problems on Toon shading

Hi! I'm working on a toon character for a school project (Maya 2018), and my professor suggested me to render it on Maya Hardware rather than Arnold because of the pre-made Toon Shaders and Outlines, and because Arnold is overkill for this kind of work.
My problem is that I cannot make Maya Hardware work with toon shading.
I have three 4K diffuse textures for my model, using UDIM tiling.
This is the result with Maya Hardware 2.0, a Shaded Brightness Toon shader and just a directional light.
I plugged the textures to the lightest color of the ramp, and I selected the UDIM tiling mode (three tiles found, so this is fine), but as you can see they are not correctly rendered.
If I try to render this using Maya Software instead, Maya crashes during the process.
On the other hand, if I use a random image from my Hard Drive as a texture (a 1440x1080 .jpg file, UV tiling mode off), the result is the same for Maya Hardware, but this time Maya software works correctly:
Finally, here there are the UVs, the textures and a quick rendering on Arnold 5 (AiStandardSurface, just the diffuse plugged-in), as you can see everything should work properly.
I really cannot figure out where the problem is, am I missing something? I wonder if UDIM tiling is supported by Maya Hardware/Software, or maybe my textures are too big..
Thank you in advance.
