Problem rendering metal with texture maps in Arnold

Hello Maya community!

It seems I can't get Arnold (Maya 2018) to render metal based on texture maps.

I hope the pictures are well explanatory: I've put a small ball with simply Metalness 1 and Spec-Roughness 0, this looks like metal.
On the character, back of the head should look like a less glossy metal as well (pics 3 & 4 are isolated maps), but both Roughness and Metalic maps don't seem to work well. On picture 2 I removed the Roughness map and set it to 0 and it seems the Metal map doesn't work as a mask either..

Maps are from Substance Painter.
Both Roughness and Metallic are set to Raw color space. Can't figure out what is the problem here Smiley Frustrated please help.
