Playblasting with Arnold very slow

Hi,

I am testing Arnold GPU in the viewport as it looks like a great option for high quality playblasts. Despite the GPU render completing in 4 seconds, the rendering speed falls off a cliff once it is playblasting.

All thoughts welcome.

Thanks

Richard

This is wild! Why not just launch a batch or sequence render? This is totally not how playblasting was designed to work and it could be any number of things throwing up an error and causing a memory leak.

For example, if you are playblasting to a video format. Perhaps Maya is holding onto those images in memory, the more it has to hold the less memory is available to run the next frame.

This seems like it could be any number of specific technical issues.

My suggestion, just render it, same thing.

Hi Daunish,

Thanks for responding. We want try and push the look of playblast so animators can improve the look of their outputs and not take up bandwidth on the farm. I will take a look at the idea of doing running local sequence renders as it should take advantage of the GPU.
