Perspective distortion in render

Hi!

Why do my renders differentiate so much from viewport view? It is driving me crazy. I have a low poly model of game weapon and in viewport looks nice , but when i render it it looks wider and shorter. I changed focal length , angle of view in my camera. Nothing worked. Any help would be much appriciated.

It's odd that the dimensions shown in your render are different from the resolution gate.

Yeah, that is odd...is that with a fresh camera?

I just thought of something you should check...make sure that your Render->Test Resolution is set to Render Settings. (That might be the cause of the difference between the resolution gate dimensions and your render dimensions.

Wow thx :). That helped a little with the borders. But there is some weird scaling. The lines are same length. Is maya playing tricks on me?

I think the problem is that you're expecting the viewport to be an actual representation of the rendered resolution. Note that your scaling image comparison lines are up against the outer border of the viewport, but are inside the border of the rendered image. You would have to size the viewport so that the resolution frame is the exact size of the rendered image. Think of it as looking at the same thing on two different size televisions. Does that make sense?

Oh, I get it now. Silly me. Well it looks like changing test resolution to render settings solved my problem. I would like to thank everyone for the replies. Now lets get back to detailing.

By the way, if you select your gun and do a smooth mesh preview, it turns into a cool ray gun. Looks like something from the movie "Men in Black."
