For some reason, if you create a torus (sometimes a sphere, cone or cylinder too) in your scene and leave your bound padding to 0.000, it will transform your Displacement Map in a Parallax Mapping, it doesn't do that with a cube, for instance, my plane at a 5 iterations takes 24secs to render. With a torus, it's 12 seconds, look at the image I created to show you the difference.

Hi!

Parallax Mapping is not the same as Displacement Mapping.

So what you get is not Parallax Mapping it's still Displacement Mapping but cut to some bounds.
