Noise to roughness material not working on vray

Trying to use a Bercon noise (Or any other noise map) plugged into a roughness input, but I cant get it to work properly. I must be missing something. Should be as simple as hooking up the noise to the roughness input.

Im trying to get it to render in vray but nothing is working.

Its funny cause I can import a texture roughness map and hook it up that way, but when I use a noise node all of a sudden it doesnt work. So strange???

i dont have vray here but i think the problem is with the connection. as you can see in your screenshot it connects the out alpha which is probably not present in the noise!?

you can check if the noise has an "alpha is luminance" attribute in "color balance" (attribute editor) or just connect outColorR to the roughness input.

You sir are a gentleman and a scholar. You are 100% correct. Nothing was in the alpha output, it was all colour, hence I clicked alpha is luminance (hence something outputting in the alpha) and it fixed it straight away.
