Maya 2017 batch render crashing

Hi,

we have a render farm that's using Maya 2015 and v-ray.

we're trying to upgrade it to Maya 2017 and a newer version of vray but are running into an issue of the Maya batch render crashing.

its odd, it will sometimes spit out a successful frame but most of the time it will crash immediately.

 

below is a render log showing it render a frame then repeatedly crash trying to render more

the scene is a very basic sphere on plane with directional light

 

this is in Maya 2017 update 2 - vray 3.40.06 - running on windows 7

Here is another post which had the same issues as you.  Please read the post and follow the solution I provided (it is the same as the one we did via teamviewer)  Good luck!

Hi,

sadly this did not solve my problem.

The batch render will still crash randomly at launch.

 

My workstation batch renders fine, this issue is happening on a render node on our farm.

Just to chime in here - I am having the same problem with Maya 2017 Update 2, Arnold 1.4.1.1 and all batch rendering... whether it is as part of the renderfarm or on a local batchrender.

In my case it has something to do with Bifrost, deleting all bifrost nodes solves the problem

To be more specific it is crashing on bifrost meshing. If I disable bifrost meshing it renders without problems.

Did you ever solve this issue. We are having the same problem with vray on 4 out of 10 render nodes on our farm, it's driving us crazy.
