Maya 2015 Texture Problem

Help?

Anyone have ideas to help with this texture and model window issue?

PROBLEM:  The model does not show any textures that are being applied.  The textures are being applied because a (rough) render shows them.

I have selected the "6" view (shaded display with texture maps is ON).

As a test, I started a new file and created a quick model of an eye ball - both the model and the textures show in the model window!  So this problem is not being seen consistently, it's only for this particular model, this particular file.

I have tried switching the "renderer" - from Viewport 2.0 to the Legacy Default Viewport and the Legacy High Quality Viewport - this did not change the problem.

I'm using a MacBook Pro OSX 10.9.2, Maya 2015, Student Ed.

you don´t have textured view active. the icon on top of your viewport is disabled but the "use default material" toggle is active. uncheck this and activate textured view.
