Im trying to achieve a lightsaber glow effect by using Ai Standard Surface but when i use emission the blade will turn competely red. i was wondering if there is anyway to have the blade white but have a red glow around it and how would i get that result.
I tried to have two blades one being white and one being red, it almost looks like what i want in the view port but as i render with arnold it justs emits the red light rather than has a glow around the white blade, is there a way to have a glow rather than light maybe through texturing using texture inputs, i am open to many methods but i want to achieve the result in maya rather than post proccessing. thanks

Do it in post. In AfterEffects or Nuke.

I know it might be a bit late, but I found that making a White Emission with the weight on max in combination with a light around the blade (with your desired color) works best. (for the light), I used a cylinder, put it around my blade and turned mesh into a lamp. once that's done all you have to do is experiment with how much exposure and intensity works best.

that's interesting when I did that I had a very thin light around the emissive blade, did yours have a stronger light and could you post an image of it?
