Exporting vertex colors as textures with expanded/filled seams

Hey guys,
I was hoping that someone here might have an answer to this question, as I don't seem to find one online.
Premise:
We have a model with a lot of elements, and each element has three vertex color sets with parameters.
I'm trying to export the vertex colors of each set into textures, as we need to transfer this information to another software that could only read data from one vertex color set. By exporting them as textures, we can then sample their information and we can work with this data.
Problem:
When exporting the vertex colors via the Paint Vertex Color Tool, the UV seams are not filled/expanded and there seems to be no option to do so - which results in seams showing up when sampling this textures in the other software (see Figures below):

Question:
Is there a way to export the vertex colors as textures with expanded/filled seams in Maya 2017+ for many objects?
Apparently there used to be a way to do this using Mental Ray, but it is not included with Maya anymore and it doesn't seem to work now anyways. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
