Displacement Shader Affects Instances via Duplicate Special

Hi,

I just noticed that using displacement shaders, since they affect the geometry, they will change the geometry of duplicate objects created with duplicate special. So when the duplicated mesh has a different shading group with a displacement shader, that displacement will impact both the original and the duplicate / instance mesh during rendering.

I was wondering if there is a way to prevent this from happening?
What I want to do is create a live duplicate / instance of a mesh that uses a different shader with displacement.

Cheers

Hi!

All instances use the same shape and displacement changes the shape, so the displaced shape will be used by all instances, which is the main purpose if instances. (The renderer creates a new mesh based on displacement settings and this will then be instanced.)

If you want different shapes you need to create different objects.
