converting from mental ray to arnold

Hey Autodesk,

I have a maya.mb scene file with also an fbx, that has both hair cards and texture but the problem i am having is that it has mental ray nodes, and i want to convert to use with arnold shaders, so that i render with arnold.

It is very urgent...I will be glad, if you can do the conversion for me, since, I am stuck at this  stage...

Much appreciated...

Just assign a new Arnold shader and connect the maps.

There is no magic.

I have already applied a new ai standard shader, but when i, reapply the textures with arnold shaders, the object becomes black in color, in the viewport, and that is my problem...

If I assign a new shader, it works fine, but I cannot save since it has mental ray nodes, then after I remove the mental ray nodes and save the file and re open again, I can see the texture in hypershade but it appears black as attached image, in the viewport...

I know it is an easy fix, but i am a newbie in maya, and also currently a student...

The viewport doesnt matter only the render.

Not all Arnold shader does view in the VP2.

There's a script in the forum that clears the scene form all unwanted nodes .

I have it in the office machine but go ahead and search for Cleaning Maya from Mental ray and unknown nodes...or something like that. I'll post it tomorrow morning.

You can start by expanding the Outliner "Dag"....at the very bottom nodes delete Mental Ray nodes.

Here, I found it....by Stephen Blair......(Make a shelf button, cause this will clear bad nodes from internet models too)... proceed after that with replacing the old shaders with Arnold shaders manually so you learn the process, you will be doing this for many years to come.

Have you added a light to the scene?

The script is working fine, but maybe I am doing smthng wrong with the shaders, cause still I am having the same problem, when I assign the texture, the object is still black and yes also, I have added both the skydome and physical sky light to the scene.

Go back to basics and texture a cube on a new scene.....or upload a Zip file.

I had already uploaded a zip file earlier, but now I have figured out the solution...The script work fine as earlier stated, but the issue was that, I had named my textures with, brackets and hyphen, now I think, I am ok...

Thank you so much for your concern and really appreciate the support and prompt feedback
