combining object and maps into one

Hi All,

I have a scanned model of a city that consists of about 5000 small objects, all with their own shader / texture.

I would like to combine these into one larger model with one large diffuse map so it becomes far more manageable.

What would be the way to go?

Can I bake them all into one texture?

What about the individual UV maps?

Hi @PaulScheepers,

if you plan to render your scene with Arnold, you can use the Render Selection to Texture utility. (You can find a quick video tutorial here)

In addition, you can choose either to merge the individual UV maps or to keep them apart, using the Combine Options.

Regards,

Hi @PaulScheepers,

I'm just checking in to see if you need more help with this. Did the video and the article help to solve your issue?

The tutorial link doesn't work.

Combining the 5000 objects into one mesh already causes my system to crash...

I'm rendering with Redshift in the end.

The tutorial example object has an object with an ok uv-map.

In my case there's 5000 objects, with their respective uv-maps that need to be combined into one object with one uv-map. Then the texture of the original objects need to baked onto the new combined mesh...
