Can't load mental ray in maya 2016

I installed the recent service pack 5 and mental ray but am still unable to get the mental ray loaded button to function in the plug in manager. Nor is the auto load button working. 

I'm working on a mac with the el capitan osx.

no just the mental ray plug in and service pack 5.

I haven't seen any service pack for mental ray?

also I installed the mental ray plug in and service pack 5 on my wondows computer and that has worked out fine.

It's only my mac computer that it is not working on.
