Is it possible in Maya to make Barycentric UVs like in this Modo video ?
Very useful for mapping one texture to all faces

Select the mesh, then in the UV editor, polygons > unitize.

Is that what you mean?

That's exactly what I wanted but you get some warping, see attached photo.

You will always get some degree of warping if the texture is mapped to one polygon with no subdivisions. It's a good idea to add some subdivisions to "pin" the texture in place.

 

If you want to maintain the hard edges, use Edit Mesh > Add Divisions. As you increase the number of divisions, you will notice your texture becoming more straight. 3 divisions should be good enough. Perhaps add divisions as the last step in your modeling process.
