Baked colour ID map artefacts

Hello,

I'm seeing some weird artefacts in the colour ID map baked in Maya for use in ArmorPaint.

If I load up the map in GIMP and ramp the brightness and contrast I see this:

gimp.PNG

Which results in this:

artefacts.png

The outer surface was projected.  The inner rusty material was UV painted.

Any ideas?

while photoshop gives me clean masks from the bake i can reproduce what you see.
for now the only solution i can offer is to bake as exr which gives you a 32bit image and it seems to work without artifacts .
