Arnold Renderer causing PC to freeze

This issue has manifested itself randomly over the past couple days and I cannot find the issue.

All of a sudden, whenever rendering with the Arnold Live renderer, between a few seconds to a few minutes, my PC will freeze, and I have to hard reset it, there is no other way to regain control. This happens in both a old and a new project, with a few cubes or a dense scene. I've checked temps and load, and nothing looks out of the ordinary. I've noticed the CPU hitting 100% but that's fine normally, and memory never hits 100% load. Again, everything was working perfectly fine the other day, and now this suddenly starts happening basically every time I want to render anything.

Nothing bad is showing in the Event Viewer. Speccy is showing normal temps.

Fixes I've tried include:
- Updating to the most recent Maya 2017 patch
- Limiting the amount of cores Maya can use.
- Using other renderers. mtoa is the only one that causes this.

If anyone can help with the issue, please do!

Specs:

Windows 10

i7 4770K @ 3.5Gz

16GB DDR3 1866MHz RAM

GTX 1070 4GB

Hi!

Please lower your threads used for rendering (to max. half of available cores or only "1") to make sure it is not related to system overload / overheating, ...

An update: I've bought a new PSU as my old one was on its way out regardless, and this did not fix the issue. Its either the CPU or the Motherboard, or its a software issue.

I made sure my CPU was not being used 100%, as this screenshot will prove, but the system still froze.
