Arnold gpu render not rendering textures

alexamancio23_0-1612546598960.pnggpu render

[gpu] unable to link parameter "specular_roughness" of node "aiStandardSurface6", failed to compile shader for source node.

Is there any way to fix it?

I see you were following the same skillshare class I currently am, I'm getting the same issue, at what looks like the same point, did you ever figure it out?

Hello,

So what type of material (file type) did you assign to Specular Roughness of AiStandardSurface6?

This is where I would start troubleshooting.

Under RENDER SETTINGS >Arnold Renderer tab, look to the TEXTURES section.

is Auto-Convert to Tx selected and does the file size stay under the MAX CACHE SIZE?

What program are you using to make the textures or were they supplied to you?

Maybe make a copy of the original texture you used for the Specular Roughness, then use a program like Autodesk Sketchbook to open. Save as TIF or PNG, then try using the newly made texture instead of the one you are using.

Arnold should autoconvert to Tx once you try to render, and maybe this will solve your issue.

Good Luck!

It's a fractal node set to specular roughness

Hi again,

So a fractal is a procedural texture and isn't like a tif, png, or jpg. It is created using Maya's fractal algorith. So it doesnt save a texture but is internal.

It needs to be converted to a file.

This following post link I think addresses the issue.
