Sir, 

I am making a scene of a space ship but i cant understand why my arnold and mental ray renders are so different and why is the crater glow in arnold not glowing like in the mental ray one.

Hi!

 

There is no standard how to render images, and if using a 3rd party renderer in most cases not all features of the host application are supported.

Therefore a renderer adds his own materials to a 3d application to make sure all attributes are fully supported and interpreted correct.

Arnold for example does not support the Glow Attribute of default Maya Materials.

 

If you change the renderer you also have to change the materials, lighting and render settings and even then the look will be different.

 

Choose the renderer that works better for you on your project.

thanks for the reply sir, but i cant use mental ray as i am using Maya 2017 and i cant buy Mental Ray so I guess i have to work with arnold. Can you please tell me how to make a material glow like a surface shader in mental ray.

Hi!

Mental Ray for Maya 2017 is free. You only need to buy a license if you want to render an image sequence, but rendering a single frame within Maya is free. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia-mental-ray-products.html

 

There is no way to render a glow in Arnold, but it's anyway a good idea to do a glow in post. Render one (or more) layer(s) including the object(s) that should have a glow and create a glow effect with a video or photo (for stills) Software.

The only way to do something similar in Arnold would be by using some kind of fog, for example Volume Scattering:
