objectspace, worldspace and pivot point

I have some questions about getting translation and rotation attributes.

1. When I get vertex coordinates in object space and in world space, the lenght between the smallest and highest are different? Scale of an object is not part of the object space coordinates, why is that?

2. When an object is rotated and translated from a pivot point that is not in the centre of the object, the translation and rotation attributes are wrong when I get them, I get the translation of the pivot point and I understand that, but why do I not get the rotation from the object?

I hope you can answer my questions, thanks if you do.

Update, the rotation is fine after I rotate it withe the pivot pint not centered so thats not an issue.

It's just the object space then that I'm wondering why it doesn't take scale into account.
