NEED HELP!

Hello,

So a few weeks ago I had a strange issue with Maya and I'm looking for any help to figure out what the issue was. First off I am using Maya 2015, SP6.

A few weeks ago I was out of town and brought my laptop to work on a project in Maya. Maya loaded with no issues and everything seemed to be working fine. I would click on the "file" option and it would open the options from there like normal. Then I would click on the "open scene" option and Maya would freeze every time.

Each time I would have to shut Maya down through my task manager. I tried everything I could think of to resolve this issue. I restarted my computer several times, I reset the preferences and I even uninstalled Maya and re-installed it. nothing worked Maya would still freeze each time I selected the "open scene" option.

So basically I gave up trying to fix the issue while I was out of town. Once I returned home I fired up my laptop and Maya and everything has worked fine since with no issues. I want to know what this issue was because I have to go out of town soon and need to bring my laptop to work on my project and I am afraid I will run into this issue again and not know how to fix it. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!!!

This may be a long shot, but this sounds similar to something I have run into in the past, and the problem turned out to be that there was some path that Maya was looking in that was on an unavailable network.  Since you have already tried reinstalling Maya my guess would be that it might be some path that is set as a default.  Do you get the same problem when you try to use Open Scene while your laptop is not connected to the internet at home?

Thank you for the response. I just tried accessing Maya while my laptop was
in airplane mode and everything worked fine.
