Input world matrix attribute not updating

Hi,
I have a compute node with two inputs connected from the worldMatrix of two different nodes.
Both nodes are direct children of the scene root. One is not a child of the other.
Transforming either node correctly updates its input worldMatrix attribute to the compute node.
Keyframing one of the nodes 'snapshots' the input worldMatrix attribute from the other node at its present value - transforming it does not change its input value to the compute node.
Breaking the connections to the animated node restores normal behaviour.
This is a new probem in Maya 2016.
I've tried kUntrusted but it made no difference.
