How do I add a selected objects transform node using python similar to adding a selected object through the add  button in the node editor?

If you use a script to manipulate a node, you don't need to put it into the node editor.
But if you ask how to put it in, don't know, never tried it.

Thanks for the idea I didn't actually think about it like that, I will give it a go but I think you will be right about not needing to add it to node editor to manipulate the node.
