closestpointoncurve command (plugin) in v2020

As you can see from the attached grab, maya v2020 finds the 'closestpointoncurve' plugin.
But when i try to load it i get an error message related to pluginWin.mel - You can notice that Maya is pathed to the correct pluginWin.mel location. (presumably this file is modified during the bonus tools install)
Can someone tell me how to get this working?

i've been digging around trying to find something to move from v2019 to v2020 to get this going but i don't know enough about the internals of maya to get it going.

this is not the end of the world, but until closestpointoncurve is working in v2020 no one or our project can update

closestPointOnCurve.mll is Maya Bonus Tools, not a native plugin.

Maya Bonus Tools only supports 2016-2019
