Soft edge Normal Set to face problem

Hi, 

I am using Set to Face on my model to solve the strange black shades that I get after extruding the faces, but when I use Soft edges to make my edges smooth the black shades appear again, it's kind of a loop that I don't know how to stop, I need the edges to be smooth because is a cylindric model. Could you help me, please?

Hi!

For a cylinder some edges have to be smooth and some hard.

Try Soften/Harden Edges.

For further help, please add a scene-file or at least some screenshots.
