Hi There,
I'm going crazy here trying to do a really simple alignment proceedure that I could do in Blender with 1 click (and drag).
Basically I have two separate objects. All I want to do is snap the edge of one object to the edge of another whilst using the transform tool, but I can't find anything that will do it! I must be blind here, please help!
For reference, I've done several searches on the web and the forums, I've tried all snapping options available to me in the default workspace (grid, curve, point, projected centre, and view planes). I've tried using the 1/2/3 point snap align objects tool, I've tried tons of stuff. There must be a simple button to enable edge to edge snapping, surely - I imagine I must just be using the wrong teminology or something...
Cheers,
J

Hello! This is indeed doable. You have to use the curve snap tool, as weird as that sounds since it's not on a curve haha. The big trick with curve snapping though is you want to select your edge, then MIDDLE mouse click and drag over the edge you want to snap to. Check the video for a visual example. When you see it snap, I am MIDDLE mouse clicking and dragging.
Hope that helps, and let me know if you need more info on that!
You have been beyond helpful, I can't believe I touched this darn 'snap to curves' button so many times but didn't realise that this right here: 'MIDDLE mouse click and drag over the edge you want to snap to.' was the trick to getting it done.
(Really appreciate the video demonstration, too)
Thank you so much, Osidedan!
You’re welcome! Yea the curve snap is weird because all the other snaps work with left click haha. Glad I was able to help!
