New and existing geometry will not show in viewport

I just started using the educational version of Maya 2019. Some geometry from a previous project will not show in viewport and all geometry I am trying to create will not show either. Backface culling is not on. No side of these meshes will show. The manipulator for the geometry shows when the mesh is selected from the outliner. Reversing normals does not affect the problem. I assigned a different shader and that did not affect the problem. The geometry is not hidden.

Also, new geometry can be made and seen in a new scene. The problem is attached to my project somehow.

Hi!

For everything scene related, please upload the scene-file.

There are just too many options that could lead to a certain behavior.

One other thing I am curious about is does the smooth preview in the workspace actually increase the polygon count for rendering or is it still based on the normal preview ("1")?

Hi!

This depends on the renderer.

I am trying to attach the scene file. It will not upload. I have the file uploaded to CGSociety's Autodesk Maya Forum.

I decided to export my scene as an FBX into a new scene. New geometry is visible now. I do not know what the problem was, but I want to continue working on my project.

Hi!

Your link does not contain a file.

Please upload a scene-file here (ZIP it first) or use any other server and provide a link.

That is because the link, as stated, leads to a forum thread created on CGSociety. That website accepted my scene file upload without compression, whereas this forum did not.

Hi!

This "older" scene is based on Legacy Render Layers with a specific layer active.

Switch the Preferred Render Setup System in Preferences or simply use File -> Import... instead of Open Scene...

I had the same issues as well but got fixed when I went to Show > None the I did it again and Show > All. I also had Display Layers so when I made those Visible, it all came back but if you don't use the layers then it should work for the Show All
