Please don't answer if you are just guessing.

I would like to know the proper way to design to real world scale in the professional world.

I know to design in centimeters (and convert inches to centimeters).

I know to go to the display grid and make changes, but I don't know how to properly fill out the options.

Is there something else I need to know about modeling to scale? I want to know the entire process.  (Yes, I have searched all the normal places for the answer first). Thanks.

Hi Donna, you have all the necessary information then , here's just  a quick note on the settings.

Set the primitive cube to be 30.48 xyz  and then subdivide the cube inputs width , height and depth 12x12x12 to get each inch displayed as a cube guide.

Leave Maya default units to centimeters.

Great Donna, just a final note in Maya.

Real world scale requires adjusting camera clipping planes and very high numbers for light source intensities , not as much for sun/directional light and just keep in mind that Maya is not a Cad software so precision is not 100%....but is very close.

Have fun.
