Maya model turns blue when smoothed

Hello,

I'm working on a model and decided to smooth it by going to Mesh > Smooth.

After that, my model turned blue and continues to be blue even when I apply new materials, move vertices around, etc.

Why isn't this going away?

Attached is a screenshot of the problem.

I guess that's because you have the sculpt brush turned on, honestly I dont know.

Try to hit "w" on the keyboard to switch to the select tool.

If thats not working send me the model.

Even when I use other tools, it doesn't work. 😞

For some reason my model is solid black now. I was working on it last night, but it was still solid blue when I saved it. I deleted history on the model to see if that would help.

I have attached my Maya modelas a zip folder because the forum won't allow me to upload a .mb file.

Solved.

I really dont know what was wrong with your model...I checked the normals, the material....everything I know could be the problem.

At the end I tried to perform a dublicate faces to all the model and it triggered the material to pop up, nothing else :).

Nice character btw 😄

I would reccomend to save in .ma and not in .mb: I read thats better if you want to recover the file...stuff like that.

Yea I used to name things in that way since I saw some videos on the Autodesk yt channel, I reccomend you to do so too.

I'm not sure what zthird99 did to my model either, but try deleting history and non-deformer history, then duplicating the model.

Hi there,

I've had this problem recently, where my mesh went blue after smoothing i solved this by selecting my mesh then going to Mesh Display > Apply Colour then in the settings for that, select remove colour, then hit apply.

Im using maya 2016. Hopefully this will help if someone comes across the same issue

This is caused by having color sets assigned to your mesh.

1. Right click on the mesh

2. Color Sets -> Color Sets Editor

3. Select color set in the GUI, press the "Delete" button

Now when you smooth the mesh the color won't change.
