Maya 2017 Slow Viewports

Hey,

I have been modeling in Maya for about 2 months now. It worked perfect until two weeks ago. My viewports, and only my viewports are really slow. I can't seem to fix this.

Possible Solutions tried:

- Resetting the Prefs folder

- Changing viewport sizes

- Changing workspace (Maya Classic, Maya Modeling etc.)

- Changing viewport renderer (2.0, Legacy Default, Legacy High)

- Updating GPU Drivers

- Restarting PC (You never know)

- Deleting and refreshing Cache

I hope someone can help me!

Top menu- edit> delete history or delete all by type .
It's important to read how history works in the Maya docs and and when to choose the right delete history option.

Didn't work, still the same. I also tried to set a new project. Still slow 😕

Do you have any other suggestions which i can try?

In the bottom bar this appears. Don't know if it has anything to do with my problem: https://gyazo.com/1afffcc668fb34397fa02252d6b6bf53

EDIT: Solving Error in bottom bar doesn't solve slow viewports

Hi Thynix, if your scene is quite simple and you are still experiencing lag , that could be your hardware configuration.

Also close everything when working in Maya...even internet.

My only suggestion you are not going to like it....upgrade your system...more ram and a better card.

It just can't be my hardware. I had been working with Maya for 2 months without ANY problems. It worked PERFECT. I restarted my PC (which closes everything) I tried shutting down my internet. Still laggy. I must have clicked something somehow which lead to the slow viewports i have now.

well, there's only a few things that can slow down Maya if it was working fine at the begging , a major one is History and what is in the actual scene at this point in time.

As scenes grow in complexity everything else starts to slow down.

If you have deleted the prefs and started fresh on a new scene, do you still have an annoying lag?

Yes. That is what makes this so weird.

I removed the prefs folder. Set a new project and create a default workspace.

I add a polygon and move it around.

Everything i do with the polygon is laggy (rotating, moving, moving vertexes etc.)

Thanks for that responds. I recently build a new PC and all my problems are gone. Guess it was a lack of RAM. I accepted a solution.

Was suffering with the same problem, on Maya 2018 (mac os sierra)

Delete my Cache files; All works fine, even the lagging of hotkeys no more - ha

Solution - On Mac

Finder - Go (press option key) - Library - Caches (delete this folder)

I keep doing this every time I launch maya, hope it helps 😉
