Extrude Tool Issues

Hi guys,

Am trying to follow some tutorials and one of the steps is to use the extrude tool on one of the faces of this cube model I've started, but when I click extrude it looks like this picture below:

As you can see, the arrows are pointing down at an angle and they should be straight, and I don't know how to change it. Can anyone please help?

you hit the extrude edges button. make sure you are in the face section of the edit mesh menu (that changed in 2016 btw. and there is only one extrude for all components!) or just select the face(s) and hit shift + rmb (context sensitive so you always get the right extrude according to selection) and extrude from there.

Hi,
there is a small blue circle. Just click on it - it is controller for local and global coordinate system.
