Today I am attempting to simulate a roll of paper unrolling to a flat plane. I would like to do this without having to add joints if possible. I've manage to get 90% of what i want with a bend deformer, but the geo reaches some threshold where i get interpenetration. I need the paper to coil and scroll to a degee where the coil is tighter the more i roll it. as it is the spacing remains almost uniform between scrolls. I've posted 2 pics. One is the way i like it to be, the other is what happens after i continue the coil. You can also see the settings on the right.
You may need to increase the divisions in the direction of the roll, and decrease the scale on the bend handle node. In the example below, I ran the scale all the way down to 1. Here are before and after shots...
