Unequal edge lengths when creating Platonic tetrahedra.

I am a scientific researcher, new to Maya. In creating tetrahedra using create/polygon primitives/Platonic solid, I have noticed that the edge lengths for the tetrahedron are not all the same. For the other four Platonic solids, they are (as they should be). In the case of the tetrahedron, the base is equilateral, but the fourth vertex is further away than it should be. I discovered this using the distance measurement tool, and empirically while assembling several tetrahedra. Is this a known bug? (My version of Maya on the Mac is current at 2020.3.) Thanks for any feedback.

Only for a "regular" tetrahedron all edges have the same length.

All five Platonic solids have equal edge lengths. That is the way Plato defined them and that has been the accepted definition for millennia. I find it most curious that the tetrahedron should be singled out to require a "regular" designation for it to have equal edge lengths. Perhaps the animation community has created its own, separate definition of a tetrahedron, in terms of edge lengths. So, how does one create a Platonic tetrahedron of equal edge lengths in Maya without having to do any post-creation adjustments?
