Unable to add Edge loop to a Location

Hi. I'm currently trying to add an edge loop to a location on my geometry (the position of the multi cut tool in the attachment), however it keeps getting added at another location (the edge just by the left of the tool). When I try to move it to location, other edges move along with it. Please are there any ideas as to how to go around it?

Hi!

Assuming there are no problems with your mesh, you might try other approaches such as:

- Use the SplitPolygonTool() command

- Inser multiple edge loops at once at a predefined position (the option that divides the segment in multiple edges) until you have an edge in the place you want, and then delete the rest.

If you can upload the scene it would help to take a look at it! 🙂

Hi I tried them. I'm finding it difficult to place them where I want.

I'll just share the scene file.

Thank you for the scene!

I have tried to add an edge loop to your model in various locations manually, and I'm having no problem with it.

What Maya version are you using by the way? I tried in Maya 2018 and 2020 and there was no problem in either of them.

I guess you might try to clean/optimize your scene, reset the edge loop tool settings and reset your Maya settings/preferences.

Let me know if this helps!

Thanks very much. I just had to reset the tool and it placed them exactly where I wanted.
