sub-d mode selection disappeared

I'm fairly new to Maya and screwed something up. Instead of 1, 2 and 3 giving me normal polygon mode and the sub-d modes I get point, edge and face selection. What did I do and how do I switch it back?

I don't have any answers from my own experience, nor do I know how someone could toggle between 1 2 and 3 affecting selected components or affecting quality displays, but there is a hotkey editor in Maya where you may be able to change things if you haven't tried that yet. Sorry if this isn't helpful or if you already tried it.

Windows -> Settings/Preferences -> Hotkey Editor

From there type in "quality display" and see if it looks like it does in my screenshot.

Yes! Thank you. I figured the solution was somewhere in that area. I had somehow gotten off of the default hotkey setup.

Glad to hear it! I was going to suggest resetting your preferences to default if that didn't work, but since that would get rid of any settings that you changed on purpose I'm glad that the hotkey editor worked.
