STL export from 2018 not working

I am not able to open these .stl atf files in Meshmixer or Netfabb from Maya 2018...This is very annoying. Anyone have a solution? Ive always had some issues here or there exporting .stl's from Maya but now its basically impossible.

Too many notifications coming from this thread.
I think found a solution.

-Install Autodesk Print Studio(I think it is discontunied)

-Finish your model>FILE>Send to Print Studio
-You will see your model in PS.
-Seelct your model>File>Export Selected>Save as STL file.

Thats it!

I just exported to OBJ in Maya 2018 then Imported into Meshmixer and then exported the STL via Meshmixer as a work around (if you're not printing from Meshmixer).

I'm just putting in my vote for a bug fix as I'm having the exact same issue.  A solve would be great.

Thanks.

Thanks for the work around, but it should be an easy fix for Autodesk!

The STL export has worked fine in earlier versions.

Hi,  Any updates on this issue?   I have updated to Maya 2018. It is a major part of my 3D printing workflow. If I can't export STL then I can't print. If can't print I can't do my job.  I need a solution ASAP.

Thanks!

It would appear all versions of 2018 are not exporting Stl correctly.  I have same issue as it dumps out a 1kb stl file (other format simple crash such as Step).  I just installed Maya 2018.5.  Same problem.  These is pathetic considering version 2018.4 and 2018.5 are pretty much only bug fixes.  Since I created the file in 2018 and needed the stl, I did as someone had posted....in 2018, I saved it as a .ma file.  Then go in with an editor (wordpad, etc.) and edit the .ma file created.  Change the version to an older one you have access to (in my case 2017), save, and then open with older version and then export the stl.

Same problem here, no matter which update for 2018 I try. Totally unreal considering the bug is known for over a year now. Autodesk sucks big time.

Does this work in 2019?  Just ran into this problem in 2018.5.

Why is AD avoiding this issue?  When a basic function stops working that people are used to using, that's a serious issue and you are avoiding it completely.

Why yes, it DOES work in 2019.  So if you only have 2018.XX and need to output an STL file, you are SOL.

Thanks AD.  Nicely played.

I too have a similar problem as everyone else in regards to this topic. This **** has to stop autodesk. You're making more problems than solutions. at this point, you're doing all of these errors deliberately. We can no longer be patient when you can just release something with zero issues since you all fancy yourselves as "the industry standard"

The question here is why did you idiots released maya 2018 or perhaps maya 2019 with issues like this in the first place?

My guess is you're trying to 3D print the model. A workaround is to export as a STEP file and import the step into meshmatic3d to convert to mesh, optimize, and export as STL. Here's a quick video. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the tip!

The big thing here is that we shouldn't have to do a work around.  STL export worked well enough in other versions.  Autodesk failed to address this issue and failed to offer a correction to it's obviously flawed software that many customers paid for.
