Soft Selection regression

In Maya 2017 Update 3.

Tried to use soft selection tool. I couldn't find a way to set the falloff curve to linear, curve is set to spline by default. The original tool setting no longer shows up in the Tool Settings palette. What happened?

Edit: After writing this thread. I tried resetting modeling menu to factory default and it seems to fix it.
