Snap align 3 points is not working as intended

Hello, everyone

I'm modeling a hand in Autodesk Maya and the nails' models have to be separate from the fingers'. I want to snap the nails to the fingers by the command "3 points to 3 points", but some nails are not snapping to the fingers as I wanted, they are flipping ~180 degrees. The problems are shown in the screenshots below, why is this happening and how can I fix it? Please, advise.

Thanks

Just to confirm, are you selecting them in the same order?

Yes, but just so you know, I will try to explain the orders that I tried:

let's call the nail dots - (a),(b),(c) and the finger dots - (d),(e),(f)

1. (a),(b),(c) ; (d),(e),(f) - then the tool

2. (a),(b),(c) ; (f),(e),(d) - then the tool

3. (c),(b),(a) ; (d),(e),(f) - then the tool

4. (c),(b),(a) ; (f),(e),(d) - then the tool

their final results (the one that I did not want) are exactly the same (as shown in the screenshots before)

so I even did this order:

5. (a),(d),(b),(e),(c),(f) - then the tool = error on tool

I see, thank you for the details!

Might you have some setting changed in the wrong way? Have a look below!
