Problems selecting faces issues

Two issues:

1) I select a face, hit shift ket, select more faces, accidentally select another face- I cant undo that selection- have to start again...?  Really?

2) I select a closed loop of faces. I simply want to automatically select all faces within the closed loop

Any help here would be great,

2. Double click on adjacent face.

No, doesn't work for me.

1) only work if you accidentally selected one face

2) That just edge loops a selection, not the selection inside the selected face loop

I did a simple script and got it working for me anyway,
