Previewing Symmetry in Object Mode

Hey Guys,

i hope the wording in the subject makes sense to you.

What i would like to know if there is a way to preview the symmetry of an object across a given axis - BEFORE - executing it.

And i dont mean one component level, like vertices or faces.. i mean moving the whole object.

I think it is not possible, but i hope i am wrong.

It is possible in 3DS MAx and i think it is a pretty cool feature to play around with some designs.

Because once you apply the symmetry in maya you can only control the both objects as a whole but not reposition one side and have the other one update or something like.

Unless (hopefully) i am wrong! Hope someone can help me a little!

All the best! By the way the new UV Editor looks great!

Cheers!

Hi @Anonymous I am a little confused with your issue. In Maya if you toggle symmetry on and go to hover over a face/edge/vertex it will highlight both selections as you hover over them or select them. Could you mean using the mirror geometry feature? Which if thats the case you can do the same thing by just hitting mirror and it will duplicate the geometry which if you don't like how it looks you can just ctrl z and undo it. If these still aren't what you're talking about please feel free to explain in more detail or add a screenshot or two and I'll see if I can explain better :).
