Placing edge loops

Hello,

pretty sure again some silly newbie question.

I try to model some machine part. it should look like casted steel. So I want to combine the two parts for soft transitions.

BUT... How can I place edge loops on the spaure matching the cylinder? Only one can be active.

When I have the square active I do not see the edges on the cylinder. 🙂

thanks in advance.

Go to object selection mode and select both objects. Then click Mesh->Combine. Maya will then see them as one object, and you can go back into edge mode and do what you need to do.

Note: Sorry in advance if I misunderstood your question.

This what I did! 🙂 I will retry when I am back on the computer. Thanks so far. 🙂

And no worry; i think I often type and think I describe it enough because in my mind it sounds logic. 🙂

Third try it worked as it should.:)

Learning all by myself can sometimes be very doubting and frustating.

Thanks.
