Objects lost their pivot points from using extraction tool.

Hello,

I am modelling a Lamborghini Huracan, this is my first

Hello,

I am new to Autodesk Maya, and I'm not quite sure how I can fix this problem I'm having. The model I'm working on is a Lamborghini Huracan, and at some point when I was modelling my windshield, I used the extraction tool and somehow the axis to each object has somehow changed from its original value. My whole model somehow flipped itself, my left became my right, and when I use duplicate special, my object flips upside down instead from left to right. Then I somehow fixed this, but my XYZ axis all became zero. My original coordinates were 4.562 on the X-axis, 2.141 on the Y-axis and 7.059 on the Z-axis. They are now imports because my files crashed too. I need some help fixing this and tell me how to fix it all how to avoid it in the future.

Your help is deeply appreciated.

I was also wondering if you can send the file through the forum somehow? Anyways here's a screenshot in the link below with all of my presets set to zero.

I'm currently using Autodesk Maya 2019.

Thanks for reading.

You should be working with . ma file and you should clean your history before saving , you could corrupt the file this way.
freeze transforms on the geo and center pivot.

ill take a look at the file after coffee

I've checked the file, like I said there's tons of history here, clean up and go on with the modeling, is looking nice.

Hi!

Extract does not change the pivot.

There are only 41 visible 3D-objects in your scene, but you have about

- 300 transforms

- 500 sets

- 11000 nodes overall

My recommendation:.

1. Clean up the scene by deleting history and removing all unneeded groups(transforms) and sets.

2. Don't use copy/paste, use duplicate instead.

3. Avoid using instances with Scale "-1" as this may lead to unexpected results when used for modeling and when baking pivots on an other instance.

(There are several transform hierarchies with multiple "+1" and "-1" changes for the Scale, this is unusable)

Thanks for the reply.

I've deleted all my history, but I am still encountering problems using duplication or "duplication specials" (which I use) as seen on my screenshot.

How can I rectify this so it can mirror just like the others instead of flipping all over the place?

It only does it in Duplication specials but on normal duplication, it works when it's on -1.

Thank you for your reply.

I've deleted my history, but my window trim and air intake flip over 90 degrees and all the rest behaves itself. They are both on Lambert 2 instead of 1, is that the reason and how do I fix it?

I used Duplication Specials for this one, normal duplication at -1 works fine.

Hi!

Only deleting history will not fix the issues you have in your scene.

If you cleaned up the scene as advised, please upload a new scene-file with the steps how to reproduce the problem and i will check it.

Thanks for responding!

Yes, I have now deleted all of my histories on each object, I have centred most of my pivots, but I am lost when it comes to clearing any unnecessary groups that I might still have in my model. At the moment, I'm running weaker hardware, so I can't smooth or render my model at all, and I'm crashing all the time. I'll send what I got through an attachment.

Yes, I did paste from one scene to another, and I know I should've imported, but I'm a newbie when it comes to Maya. The problem started when I extracted an object while it was still attached to another. I've separated the roof and windscreen from each other and caused the entire model to flip with the coordinates intact, so my left side became my right side and vice versa. Since then, my duplications flip upside down instead of mirroring, and my coordinates don't match up with what they say they are. I replicated this issue and same result. Don't know why it did it, and I don't know if my model can recover without all this mess. I hope there's a fix for this, It'll save me time and grief in the future.

Also, I would like to ask what specs do you run of Maya? I was considering getting an RTX 2080ti, an i7 9700K, and 16GB of RAM.

Hi!

You did not provide any steps, so i can't reproduce anything.

However the scene is still not cleaned up as advised.

If you have problems to clean up the scene by using the tools provided by Maya, i recommend to export your model as

OBJ file which removes everything not supported by this format.

After this just re-import the ".obj" file into a new scene.

I'll try to export it as an OBJ file.
