Object turns black when scaled...

Here's a problem I'm having that probably has quite an easy answer but I'm quite new to modelling so forgive me! When I scale two grouped objects by -1 on the x axis they turn black after trasnforming, how do I fix this? I have attached a screenshot to show you what I mean.

Here's the same screenshot with a wireframe, AO isn't on, I haven't messed around with any shaders or materials.

you didn't attach an image. Did you use boolean to create the windows. Try setting your scale back to zero and delete the history (select the object - Edit pulldown - Delete by Type - History)

All files (except images) must be zipped (and only zip, not any alternative) or they will not attach. Please zip your file then try attaching it again.

Just select your windows_side1 group - goto Modify - Freeze Transformations. Sometimes when we scale an object in your case the X axis with a negative value we can alter the interpolation of the normals in the viewport.

Use "Mesh Display" -> "Reverse"
