Object Create Drop/Drag

Hi,

I'm new to Maya, and I'm watching tutorials and I notice my Maya is not working the same way.

When I try to create an object, lets say a Pcube, it drops a 1x1x1 into the scene, it does not allow me to select pcube and then draw out one on the grid ..

any ideas how to correct this, or am I just not doing something to cause this to happen correctly..

Click Create->Polygon Primitives, and at the bottom check Interactive Creation.
