*summons Mspeer and Roland from the void*
Hi again 🙂
So I have a new thing. Now that my boots have such wonderful laces, they need creases and wrinkles. I could just model them, but where would be the fun in that? And besides, the point of this whole thing is to learn new stuff. So I am mucking around with nCloth. mb pic can save a few thousand words.
The one on the left is the nCloth. The right is a duplicate that I gave a go of the smooth brush from the sculpting tools.
So this has not been a total failure 🙂 I haven't gotten exactly the desired result yet, but I am making progress. What I am trying atm, is to
hang the sleeve of the boot from a passive collider, using a dynamic constraint,
run another leg-shaped passive collider through the middle
apply a horizontal wrinkle map
change the gravity in the neucleus to .5
increase the collision and self collision thickness of the nCloth
I have tried a few of the ncloth presets. This one is using the silk preset. So far it seems to have had the best results.
So, is there a pro-tip for all this? Some stroke of inspired genius to make this a viable technique? Even a slightly depressing "nice try but this will never work". please? be your BFF.
