Maya's UV unfolding shells not selected

I will UV shell select a specific shell but every part of the object is affected as well!

My unfolding seems to be completely broken and I have no idea how to fix it. Usually I'll go into camera based cut the shape and unfold what I want but I cant do that anymore with this situation. I've also tried to use automatic and cut and sew my way to a decent UV but again when I go to unfold, things not selected will change size, and or nothing will happen at all.

I tested it out with a fresh new file and I'm still having the problem so it's not my geometry or anything. I uninstalled maya and then re-installed ... still acting weird.

I am a complete default settings (as i just reinstalled) but it still seems to be acting like this.

Does is behave like this if you select the uvs and not the faces?

Yeah, I'll select a specific shell / UV and unfold but then the other shells of that object are affected too, even when I don't have them selected

I just tried to replicate your situation and the only way unfolding behaved as you have shown in your screenshots was if I activated Legacy mode.

In the UV editor window, go to the Modify Menu at the top --> Unfold Options Box
Just look and see if the first option is set to Unfold 3D or if it is set to Legacy.

With Legacy activated every piece of the object was unfolded even if I had selected a specific shell. But with Unfold3D activated, only my selected shell unfolds the rest remain unchanged.

Oup! Figured it out! For some reason all of my plug-ins were turned off by default. Going to Windows > Settings/Preferences > Plug-in Manager > Unfold3D.mll, was able to fix it!
