Hello there;

Im having a problem when I open a scene I've been working on for a week. First it opened fine and then when I tried to open scene or Import, the scene opens in maya but keeps loading forever. Im using maya 2020, student version. my Pc have Geforce rtx2060. It happened after an update. I can't upload the file because it says it doesn't match its file extension and has been removed. But i can send by email, Please help. Thanks in advance.

Does this happen everytime you try to Open that file? What if you try Importing it into a new, blank scene by dragging the file from Windows Explorer into the empty Maya scene?

Was the file created in a different version of Maya (2018, 2019, non-Student version, etc)? Originally, or on a different system? Is it an .ma file or a .mb file?

I have been noticing a lot of issues with stability in Maya for Windows 10. I would recommend trying to open or import the scene on a different PC or Mac if you can, and see if it behaves the same or differently. Best of luck!

yes, it only happens with that file. I sended the file to my professor and he said that it was corruptep but that file its a copy from the original. I still have the original but this one its says that have content in it because of 48.4mb file size but when i open it, the scenen its empty and E"rror: line O" appears on the bottom. Some friends told me that It can be repaired by opening the .ma file in a text editor but I only have it in .mb and if I try to "save as" that document as .ma it save it with 49kb file size, like if there where nothing inside. I tried importing but because is corrupted maya crashes. Both file where created in Maya 2020 for students, all this error happens after an update this past saturday.

Hi!

Without the file no troubleshooting is possible.

You need to ZIP the file before upload.

I'm sorry this is happening. I agree, there's no troubleshooting that can happen without seeing the file.

However, I want to take this opportunity to remind you and everyone reading this to save versions. That means file.0001.ma; file.0002.ma; etc very frequently to avoid file corruption issues like this, as well as make it easier to revert to earlier versions before a mistake happens. I do this even with files that are over 1Gb in size, as well as auto-save, it has saved me a few times.

Hi!

One file is corrupted and the other does not open here too.

You can try to wait for more than one hour, maybe it still opens after some time ("f_GhostbusterTrap_copy.mb").
