Maya 2017 Extrude Tool Missing Manipulator/Window

I'm seeing some unexpected behavior with the extrude tool in Maya 2017. When I select the face of a cylinder that still has the polyCylinder node as an input, I get the expected manipulator and floating dialogue window with extrusion settings. So far, so good.

If I delete the history of the cylinder, though, I no longer get a manipulator or dialogue window though:

I'm not seeing this problem in Maya 2016. Is this a known problem with 2017, or is there a workaround?

I had the same issue. I created a cube and extruded using the Extrude tool from the self, the widget showed up. Then I went to the model to Bevel, the widget also showed up.

This really helped thank you! My transform component wasn't working either and this fixed it!

Rant:

Right...the year is 2023. I had to turn History OFF because Maya crashes so much that I cannot work, EVEN with autosave on every 5 minutes, because I will literally lose my work still.

So, without History, you lose critical modelling options and utility. With History, you lose what you just made because it makes Maya puke within a very short time frame. Chapeau!

History often rhymes they say, it certainly does with Maya.
