Importing from Inventor faces missing

HI,

I have a couple of questions

1. I've inpoorted a design from Inventor, in several different file extensions, and am having a problem.  The inported model shows up as many surfaces. When I combine and then modify them into a polygonal model many holes apear and I can not fill hole. What can I do to solve this?

2. Once I have combined the part and made it polygonal. Is there an easier way to make it a flowing model than recreating all of the faces by cutting faces and deleting existing vertices?

Thank you

Importing models from other apps can turn out to be terrible if they are not standard animation packages like 3ds C4D Modo etc..

I'm not familiar with Inventor ...like sketch up sometimes  when I receive from other people I just remodel everything...thats how I do it.

Maybe someone else who knows Inventor can chime in....but usually the mesh is a mess after the translation.

FBX was no good?
