How do I select vertices when transform gizmo is in the way? In Blender it was not a problem, because you either don't use gizmo at all or you select with RMB and manipulate gizmo with LMB. In Maya I can't perform transformations without gizmo. Making the gizmo smaller is not a solution.

Hi!

In Tool Settings, try "Tweak Mode".

Now the gizmo is gone and I can move vertices only along already existing geometry, that's not what I'm looking for. I just want to be able to select geometry without gizmo getting in the way.

Hi!

"I can move vertices only along already existing geometry"

- You should be able to move a vertex in every direction, here it works.

The only other option is to use marquee selection.

How? What do I click?

Hi!

Try with visible manipulator first, middle-mouse click on the axes / direction, but outside of the handle.

(shift click to change axis).

It works the same if the manipulator is invisible.

Ok, I get it now. I have to hold shift and MMB and drag.
